Vacancy for a Bilingual Support Worker (Polish-English)

We have a vacancy for a BI-LINGUAL (Polish-English) SUPPORT WORKER. The hours related to this post are negotiable (minimum 20 hours per week, maximum by agreement). DIVERSITY VOICE is a voluntary sector organisation managed by a board of Trustees.

Diversity Voice is a charity that supports ethnic minorities in Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Wiltshire. This support includes the employment of Bi-Lingual support workers to help EAL children with their education.

The post holder will be primarily responsible for work in South Somerset and Mendip areas although travel may also be required across Somerset. There is considerable travel involved, and access to a car is therefore a requirement. We are looking for people with some experience in either a school or early years setting, who are also able to demonstrate excellent language skills, with English and Polish being a prerequisite and additional languages an advantage.

The main focus of this role is to help children overcome the language barriers that inhibit their understanding within the school and pre-school environment, by providing targeted language support to those children, and giving feedback to parents and staff regarding the child’s needs.

Applicants will need to complete a successful enhanced criminal record check known as Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) in order to comply with safeguarding regulations.
