South Petherton Junior School has vacancies for School Governors

Could you make a positive contribution to a local school?
Being a governor is a rewarding way of making a positive, voluntary contribution to the lives of local young children by offering supportive challenge to help raise standards and monitor resources effectively within a school.

South Petherton Junior School is looking for new governors to join their team. We are looking for skilled volunteers from all backgrounds, particularly those with experience of finance, human resources or managing premises.

Governors are appointed to provide
Strong links between the school and the community it serves.
An independent view
Accountability to the community for the use of resources and the standards of teaching and learning within the school
Support for the Head teacher and staff.

Governors are involved in
Senior staff appointments
Financial management of the school
The curriculum and pupil discipline
Community links.

We would like to hear from anyone who has:
An interest in the performance of the school
An open and enquiring mind
The confidence to ask questions and join in debate
A willingness to listen and make informed decisions
The ability to work well with others

Time to spare (6 evening meetings a year plus committee meetings if desired)
