A second opportunity for Diversity Grant funding for Early Years settings

MECA is delighted to announce that preschools/children's centre may apply for a second £100 diversity grant if they wish to run another event. Any setting who has sent us an evaluation form may apply a second time.

This means that you have another chance to apply for the opening of a grant opportunity for funding diversity events in Somerset Early Years settings. Due to the success of the initial grants, Somerset County Council Early Years Subgroup of Schools Forum has agreed to provide funding enabling up to a further £100 per setting to be allocated for a second diversity event.
Once again, the main criteria are that the event must involve parents and aim to promote social cohesion in the setting.
Events should include the key objectives: learning about each other's values and culture; promoting positive attitudes to cultural diversity; and, seeing how diversity is celebrated in Somerset.
The funding will be managed by (MECA) and again we may be able to provide support to some settings to run an event if required. Funding is available for the first 100 settings. We would generally expect at least 8 children to be involved, so if you have fewer children in your setting, you may need to involve other nearby settings in your event in order to receive the full £100. Please include in the subject heading "application for £100 for diversity event".
Within 7 working days MECA will send you an online application to fill in and return to us. The application will include the questions "why do you need this funding?" and "How would you engage parents in your proposed event?" It has been kept brief and is 200 words maximum. You will hear within three weeks if your application has been successful or whether further information is required. It is important that you wait to receive formal approval before you go ahead and make financial commitments. Following any event, you would be required to complete a brief feedback form about the event of no more than 200 words.
Please make sure you send to us evaluation form not later than 28th February 2015. We do not pay you directly - SCC will pay after we receive your evaluation. If you need our help please let us know in advance and we will try to support you.
MECA look forward to again working with providers on this initiative.
